The PowerMTA 6.0 r2 version has been released
This PowerMTA update simplifies configuration using automatic MX accumulations, adds a REST API for managing a virtual MTA, and improves the scalability of accounting web pages with simultaneous HTTP connections. For more information and a full list of changes, see below.
Automatic MX configuration
Automatic MX storage settings have been introduced to simplify configuration and maintenance compared to manual MX storage settings. For more information, see the global auto-mx-rollup directive.
Dynamic configuration of a virtual MTA
A new REST API for managing virtual MTA configurations has been introduced, providing a more flexible way to create, read, update, or delete virtual MTA settings.
Scalable web applications for HTTP accounting
Advanced HTTP accounting web sites to support parallel connections, improve performance and scalability. For more information, see the acct-file directive.http-webhook-max-connections.
Improved integration with the proxy server
Added support for the HAProxy protocol for incoming traffic, which allows PowerMTA to determine the source IP address of clients connecting via a proxy server. For more information, see the smtp-listener.use-inbound-proxy and transmissions-api-listener.use-inbound-proxy directives.
The proxy.retry-attempts directive has been added, which allows you to configure the number of retries before switching to the next proxy server.
Improved security
The domain.smtp-client-certificate directive has been expanded to allow the use of intermediate certificates, which provides greater flexibility.
Improved diagnostics
The Prometheus pmta_smtp_transient_queue_errors_total metric has been expanded to include a label for proxy server-related errors, which allows better tracking of proxy server connection errors.
An MX rule has been added that maps an IP address to accounting records when using IP convolution using MX convolution.
The global time-first-attempt-hires-timestamp directive has been introduced, which makes it possible to determine the time to the first attempt (TTFA), recorded in accounting files, with millisecond accuracy.
Error correction
Fixed a bug that caused the pmta trace command to hang when the trace queue was empty.
Fixed a bug that caused messages to invalid domains to hang, especially for domains with invalid punycode.
Incompatibilities with older TLS implementations have been fixed, problems with HTTP accounting web interfaces that did not work properly on legacy servers have been fixed, as well as PMC registration errors in PowerMTA 6.0.
